Starting Friday, Ontario families began receiving their second HST Transition Cheques as part of Ontario's tax plan.

This extra money will help more than 6.6 million Ontarians and families. This is the second of the three transitional payments that will provide up to $1,000 for families and up to $300 for individuals, to help with the transition to the HST.

These payments are part of Ontario's plan to provide $12 Billion over three years in tax relief for families and individuals, which also includes:

Cutting income tax for 9 out of 10 Ontario tax payers as of January 1, 2010.

Providing up to $260 a year for each low- to middle-income Ontarian with the new Ontario Sales Tax Credit.
Helping low- to middle-income seniors and families through the Ontario Energy and Property Tax Credit, providing up to $900 to non-seniors, and up to $1,025 to seniors;
Taking 10 per cent off monthly electricity bills for families, farms and small businesses starting January 1, 2011, under the proposed Ontario Clean Energy Benefit;
Helping parents keep their kids active, from music and painting to sports and dance with a refundable tax credit of up to $50 per child, up to $100 for a child with a disability.
These tax reforms are part of the Open Ontario Plan, to create new jobs, boost economic growth and protect the progress that Ontario families have made in their schools and hospitals.
