Motorola Xoom

On the evening of Tuesday April 12th, WonderMoms.ca had the privilege of being invited to the launch of the all New Motorola Xoom tablet. An innovative tablet experience and worthy alternate to others currently on the market today. The evening was designed to make those involved feel pampered and relaxed while freely using the Motorola Xoom. Motorola and their PR firm had the right idea, by setting the launch party up in a downtown salon. We were treated to manicures and pedicures, not to mention a wide variety of food and beverages. There was no pressure put on any of us, just sit back and enjoy what was in front of you. We all know how much us ladies like to be pampered.

For those of us who are the faint of heart, the Motorola Xoom was surprisingly easy and fun to use. It is the first such product to run Android 3.0 (Honeycomb), Google's powerful operating system designed specifically for tablets and featuring the latest Google Mobile services. The Xoom uses your current W-Fi connection, is ready to use right out of the box, and comes with support for Adobe Flash Player, which you can download form the Android Market. It's 10.1" HD widescreen display is simply awesome. The colors and clarity were in a word, astounding.

For the multi-tasker in all of us, the Motorola Xoom can handle everything you need to do, be it finding directions using Google Maps 5.0 with 3D interaction or accessing over 3 million Google eBooks. It is all there at your fingertips. Checking your personal or work emails is simply a snap. What made using the Xoom so much fun, was the fact that while being pampered and fed the representatives from Motorola were patiently awaiting questions. They let us play without making it a sales pitch for their product. Quite frankly, the product speaks for itself.

The wild adventurer types would be just as satisfied being able to utilize the rear-facing 5 megapixel camera with flash that captures video in HD. You can quickly and seamlessly connect to any television using HDMI connectivity. Again, simple and easy to use. Post to Youtube, Picasa or Facebook or engage with friends and family through Motorola Xoom's front-facing camera which is easy to use for video calling.

To summarize for the techie in all of us, it combines larger and higher resolution display in a smaller form-factor. Comes equipped with dual-core 1 GHz processor and a wide variety of docking options. It is very light weight, 25 ounces and has a great battery life of up to 10 hours of video playback. The memory is supported with an onboard 32 GB user memory, microSD card support after future software update, and 1GB DDR2 Ram.

As a Digital Mom, I am always being ask to test out innovative new products to see how they are in my busy life. I sincerely hope the shopping gods are listening, as I would love to have one of the Motorola Xoom tablets to use, both professionally and personally. It was a wonderfully satisfying experience, and I have pretty toes to boot.
